More than 500 people save Vinh river dike
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 13, heavy rain and rising water levels on the Vinh River caused about 60m of the Vinh River's critical dike, the section flowing through Tan Phuong Block, Vinh Tan Ward (Vinh), to seriously erode and could break at any time.

Faced with that dire situation, Vinh City mobilized 500 people including army, police, militia, civil defense and local people to protect the dike.
Mr. Nguyen Hoai An - Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee - who is directly directing the dike protection work said: If the water level rises by just 1 meter, the possibility of a break is very likely. If the dike breaks, it will cause flooding for more than 1,000 households with 4,150 people.
