More than 660 people died of HIV in Xiangyang

(Baonghean.vn) - According to statistics, the total number of people infected with HIV in Tuong Duong district is 1,040, of which 771 have progressed to AIDS, and 663 have died.

Statistics from the authorities of Tuong Duong district also show that there are currently 407 people infected with HIV living and working in the community, 18/18 communes and towns in the area have people infected with HIV.

With the theme “Early HIV testing - towards the 90-90-90 target by 2020”, on the morning of December 6, a large number of officials, civil servants, students and people of Tuong Duong district participated in the National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control 2017. According to this national goal, 90% of people infected with HIV know their infection status, 90% of people infected with HIV are treated with antiretroviral drugs and 90% of people infected with HIV are treated with antiretroviral drugs to control the virus count at low levels.

In recent years, Tuong Duong district has always paid attention to promoting HIV/AIDS prevention and control propaganda to all classes of people; diversifying propaganda and education activities widely in society to build correct awareness of the risks and dangers of the HIV/AIDS pandemic... thereby reducing stigma and adjusting behavior towards people with this disease.

After the rally, many officials, civil servants, public employees and people marched on the main streets of the district to propagate the harmful effects of HIV/AIDS and how to prevent it.
