In the spirit of mutual support and solidarity, from 2011 to 2013, Nghe An province mobilized over 217 billion VND from social contributions to help the poor. Through this, more than 3,000 poor households received support for building and repairing "great solidarity" houses, tens of thousands of poor people received support with seedlings and livestock, and received food relief, and tens of thousands of students from poor households received support for their education expenses.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that this is the third consecutive year that the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee have launched the "Tet for the Poor" program to unleash the strength of the political system and the entire society, promote the tradition of solidarity and compassion, care for the poor, and achieve the national goal of poverty reduction. In 2013, due to the impact of natural disasters, storms, floods, and economic recession, the poverty rate in the province remained high, and many households are currently facing difficulties and need to be helped. Through this program, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called on compatriots at home and abroad, businesses, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, agencies, units, and armed forces, with their sharing hearts and social responsibility, to continue to take concrete actions to help the poor in the province celebrate Tet and welcome the spring.
