Two young men end up in jail after fighting over being "stared at disrespectfully".

On March 21, the People's Court of Quy Hop District held a public trial of the criminal case against Phan Tat Tai (born in 1997), residing in Bac Son hamlet, and Tran Duc Anh (born in 1996), residing in Tan Thanh hamlet, both in Tam Hop commune, for the crime of "Intentional infliction of injury".

According to the indictment: at approximately 10:30 PM on November 25, 2017, Tài and Anh rode their motorbike to the "Lá cọ" karaoke bar owned by Mr. Nguyễn Văn Thắng in Đoàn Kết hamlet (Nghĩa Xuân). There, Tài and Anh met Phạm Bá Kiên (born in 1994), Lê Minh Cường (born in 1996), Thạch Cảnh Sơn (born in 1997), all residing in Liên Xuân hamlet (Nghĩa Xuân), and Võ Minh Hiếu (born in 1997), residing in Minh Tâm hamlet (Minh Hợp).

Believing that Kien was looking at them, Tai and Anh rushed in, punching and kicking, and using plastic chairs to hit Kien, Cuong, Thach, Son, and Hieu.

After the assault, Anh picked up a wooden stick from a bed frame at the foot of the stairs in the shop, walked around, and seeing no one resisting, he threw the stick away and left the shop on his motorbike.

Upon reaching the gate, Tài and Anh encountered Đỗ Văn Tuấn (born in 1996), residing in Liên Xuân hamlet (Nghĩa Xuân), who had just arrived at the quán (restaurant/bar). Suspecting that Tuấn had been called to assault them, Tài and Anh got out of the car and used their hands and feet to punch, kick, and knee Tuấn in the face and forehead, causing him injuries.

At that time, Mr. Le Huu Tri (born in 1993), residing in Lien Xuan hamlet, intervened, and Tuan managed to escape. Tai ran to the billiard hall (next to the karaoke bar), grabbed a billiard cue, broke it, and took a piece to the karaoke bar. By then, everyone at the karaoke bar had fled, so Tai and Anh got on their motorbike and left the bar.

Afterward, the two went to the "Senventin" karaoke bar in Tan Hop hamlet, Tam Hop commune, where they encountered Nguyen Thien Hoang (born in 1991), residing in Tan Hop (Tam Hop). Due to a previous conflict with Hoang, Tai and Anh punched him, causing injuries. Others intervened, and Hoang fled towards the Sang Le intersection.

While standing there, Hoang encountered Tuan, a neighbor, who was then attacked by Tai, Anh, Duc, and Thanh, who punched and kicked Tuan, injuring him. Hoang then fled.

Following the incident, Hoang and Tuan filed a report requesting an assessment of their injuries and also requested the initiation of a criminal case. Upon learning of this, Tai and Anh fled the area and were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department of Quy Hop District Police on December 9, 2017.

The forensic examination of injuries by the Nghe An Forensic Center concluded that Tuan's body injury rate at the time of examination was 13% and Hoang's was 2%. The remaining victims did not request an examination.

At the police station, Tài and Anh confessed that they committed the act of intentionally inflicting injury on another person simply because they found him "annoying."

Regarding the civil aspect, Tài and Anh compensated Tuấn with 20 million VND.

The court sentenced Phan Tat Tai to 2 years and 6 months in prison and Tran Duc Anh to 2 years in prison for the crime of "intentionally causing injury".
