Over half a million for a hotel room for dogs and cats during Tet
Pet hotels are fully booked before Tet, regular rooms range from 150,000 - 300,000 VND/day, VIP rooms cost up to 600,000 VND.
On the 28th of Tet, Mr. Tung - manager of a pet hotel chain in Hanoi, continuously received phone calls from customers calling to book a place to leave their dogs and cats. The hotel he manages has nearly 30 rooms for dogs and cats, but this time it was full, with only 1-2 slots left and only regular rooms left. At this time, the hotel also refused to accept puppies that were too big (over 10 kg) because there was no more room.
"We do not charge extra fees for guests during Tet, but require guests to make a 30% deposit to reserve a spot because the hotel does not reserve rooms during this time," he shared.

This year, Ms. Tuyet's family (Tay Ho, Hanoi) went on vacation, so a day before leaving, she found a place to leave her dog at a hotel for dogs and cats near her house. The price for leaving a dog here depends on the weight and is divided into regular and VIP rooms. The price for a penthouse room is 600,000 VND/day, a regular room is 300,000 VND, and a VIP room is 350,000 VND, not including other special bath and spa services.
"I chose to keep my dog in a penthouse room, and specially ordered spa care, hair trimming... which cost nearly 5 million VND for 5 days of storage," Tuyet shared. This price is quite high, but Tuyet agreed to pay so that her pet would be taken care of most carefully when she was away from home.
At the pet hotel system in Ba Dinh, Hanoi, by the afternoon of the 28th of Tet, there was only one penthouse room for dogs and one regular room for cats. The regular room price is 150,000 VND/day, including meals and entertainment. The VIP room, in addition to food containers, also has toys and a private toilet, with prices ranging from 250,000 - 350,000 VND/day.
The penthouse room is made like a miniature house, 2 floors, has 2-way air conditioning, 24/7 camera surveillance; mattress bed... price 600,000 VND/day. But if you book and deposit in advance, the price will be cheaper, 350,000 VND.
According to Mr. Tan, the owner of a dog and cat hotel in Kim Ma (Hanoi), the demand for dog and cat boarding has doubled or tripled compared to normal days. He estimates that this year, nearly 100 dogs and cats have been booked by their owners to be boarded at his hotel.
Due to the large number of dogs, Mr. Tan requires owners to have a vaccination record, otherwise he will refuse to accept them. If guests have a request, the hotel has a "general health check" service before accepting them. The price at his facility is 100,000 - 200,000 VND/day, depending on the dog's weight, including main and side meals, and daily exercise. On Tet holidays, he charges an additional 30,000 VND/day.
This Tet holiday, staff will take care of pets 24/7, take them for a 30-minute - 1-hour walk in the morning, then bathe them, feed them a special diet...
"Every day we will send photos and videos of the dog's activities for the customer's peace of mind. If the customer is busy on the pick-up date, the hotel will have someone take the dog home, with a fee of 10,000 VND/km," Mr. Tan added.
