The new generation Honda Civic boasts a sleeker design with a sloping roofline, along with a host of upgraded technologies.

Recently leaked sketches of the Honda Civic sedan and coupe reveal that the production version will be much more "tame" than the Civic Coupe concept that the Japanese automaker unveiled at the recent New York Auto Show.

The 10th generation of this compact car will launch in the US around the end of this year. Overall, the Civic's design continues to evolve towards a sportier and more modern style compared to the current generation.

The drawings show that the Civic doesn't have a rear spoiler like the recently introduced concept version; it seems this feature will only be on the Civic Si sport version. The striking design detail at the rear, the elongated taillight cluster that connects to each other on the coupe version, will remain unchanged.

The sedan version boasts a smoother style thanks to its coupe-like sloping roofline and boomerang-shaped taillights.

Information about the next-generation Civic will be available in the coming months. Honda says the car will have a longer wheelbase, shorter track distances from the axles to the bumpers, and will be lower and wider than before. The engine will be a 1.5-liter four-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged engine, paired with either a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission.

In terms of technology, the car features safety and driver assistance systems such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and a multi-angle rearview camera.
