(Baonghean.vn)- On May 9, in Hanoi, the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts held a press conference on the international scientific conference "Preserving and promoting the value of folk songs in contemporary society (the case of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs)". Professor, Dr. Nguyen Chi Ben - Director of the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts chaired the press conference.

The press conference provided information, introduced the purpose, key content and new features of the international scientific conference on preserving and promoting the value of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs, scheduled to be held from May 14-15, 2014 in Vinh city, Nghe An province.

Professor, Dr. Nguyen Chi Ben said: The organizing committee has received 83 scientific papers to attend the conference, including 17 papers from scholars from countries and territories: Russia, Japan, China, Belgium, Laos, France, Uganda, Switzerland, USA, Indonesia, Taiwan. In addition to the content of the papers, scientists, cultural and artistic researchers, and speakers will directly come to listen to the performance and teaching of Nghe An folk songs in the community at Ngoc Son Club (Thanh Chuong, Nghe An) and Phu Viet (Thach Ha, Ha Tinh).

The organization of the International Scientific Conference in mid-May this year in Nghe An aims to create an opportunity for international scholars to gather to identify and evaluate more clearly the value of Vi and Giam folk songs. The conference is an opportunity to listen to the experiences of scholars and cultural managers in preserving and managing international and domestic heritages in order to serve the development of an action program to preserve and promote the value of Vi and Giam folk songs of Nghe Tinh in contemporary society. This is also an opportunity to introduce and promote more widely the value of Vi and Giam folk songs of Nghe An to the international community.
