Black box MS804 confirms there was a fire before the plane crashed

(Baonghean.vn) - On July 5, the Egyptian Air Accident Investigation Committee said that the recording taken from the black box of Egypt Air flight MS804 showed that a fire appeared on the plane before it crashed into the Mediterranean Sea.

Airbus A320 flight MS804 crashed into the Mediterranean Sea en route from Paris to Cairo on May 19. All 66 crew members were killed. The cause of the accident is still unknown.

Earlier, one of the black boxes of the MS804 plane was found and recovered from the seabed. Analyzing the data from the black box, the Egyptian Air Accident Investigation Committee said on June 29 that there was smoke in the toilet and the electronic navigation system. Debris found from the front part of the plane showed signs of damage due to high temperatures.

On July 5, the recording of events on board the plane, after being repaired in France and sent to Cairo, continued to show that a fire had broken out until the ill-fated plane crashed.

Investigators are continuing to conduct further analysis of the contents of the recording and have not been able to rule out any cause of the accident.

Flight MS804 was carrying 56 passengers and 10 crew, including 40 Egyptians, 15 French citizens, two Iraqis, two Canadians and passengers from Algeria, Belgium, Britain, Chad, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and Sudan.

Since the accident, the bodies of the victims are believed to still be at sea, with only a small portion of the remains recovered. A Cairo forensic team has used the remaining remains to conduct DNA testing and identify the victims.
