Traditional gathering of revolutionary figures in Saigon - Cholon - Gia Dinh

Saigon – Cholon – Gia Dinh was always the place that "went first, but came last" in the two protracted wars of resistance of the nation.

On the morning of February 14th, at Gia Dinh Temple in Cu Chi District, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee organized a gathering to commemorate the revolutionary traditions of Saigon - Cholon - Gia Dinh. Attending the gathering were former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, former Vice President Truong My Hoa, and veteran revolutionaries and heroic Vietnamese mothers.

Before the meeting, the delegation visited Ben Duoc Temple to offer incense in commemoration of the heroic martyrs, comrades, and compatriots who sacrificed their lives for the cause of national liberation.

At the meeting, delegates recalled the glorious revolutionary struggle of Saigon - Cholon - Gia Dinh. Here, the US-backed regime used its stronghold for a life-or-death battle against our forces, a fiercely contested battlefield. Saigon - Cholon - Gia Dinh was always at the forefront and followed closely behind in the two protracted wars of national resistance. It was here, amidst the urban battlefield, that our soldiers and civilians confronted and adapted to all harsh and dangerous circumstances, facing the enemy's guns with unwavering determination, refusing to give up an inch or a millimeter. This place produced many outstanding individuals who made Cu Chi a "Land of Steel and Bronze."

Saigon - Cholon - Gia Dinh was also a strategic battleground in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign. Here, our army and people organized hundreds of ingenious, creative, and daring battles against enemy strongholds, contributing to the great victory of Spring 1975, liberating the South and unifying the country.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dua, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, emphasized: "The silent contributions and immense sacrifices of the soldiers and people of Saigon-Gia Dinh have greatly contributed to the victory of our nation. The Party Committee and government of Ho Chi Minh City are always proud of the revolutionary tradition of Saigon - Cholon - Gia Dinh. Currently, Ho Chi Minh City, like the rest of the country, is striving to build a city that is increasingly developed, civilized, modern, and compassionate, moving forward with the rest of the country to build socialism..."

Upholding the revolutionary traditions of the heroic land of Cu Chi, Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Thuy - Secretary of the Youth Union of Cu Chi District Radio Station, stated: "To continue the revolutionary traditions of our ancestors, we strive to study, train, and improve our professional and political skills to create many practical projects that contribute to building our homeland and country…/."
