Comprehensive cooperation between the two National Assembly delegations of Xieng Khouang and Nghe An provinces

Participating in the discussion, on the Lao side, there was comrade Seng-Kham-Song-Sa-Na - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Region 9,Chairman of Xieng Khouang Provincial People's Council and members of the working delegation.

On the side of Nghe An province, there was comrade Nguyen Thanh Hien - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province. Also participating were comrade Cao Thi Hien - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; representatives of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Effective cooperation on many contents

At the meeting, the leaders of the two delegations informed each province about the socio-economic development, national defense and security situation. The two sides also evaluated the cooperation activities between Nghe An and Xieng Khouang provinces and the two National Assembly delegations in recent times.

Notably, Nghe An has been supported by the Vietnamese Government to implement the investment project to build Xieng Khouang Provincial Friendship Hospital; to support training and some working equipment for the armed forces; and to support training of officials and students of Xieng Khouang province.

The two sides have also coordinated in implementing a number of tourism promotion activities; coordinated in border management and protection, and border gate management and development; and coordinated in searching for martyrs' remains.

For the two delegations of the National Assembly, in recent times there have been many foreign affairs activities, exchanges, sharing of work experiences and provision of information on the socio-economic situation of each side.

At the seminar, the two sides spent a lot of time exchanging experiences on the activities of the National Assembly and People's Council delegations.including the coordination relationship between the National Assembly delegation and the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; activities of contacting voters of National Assembly deputies, People's Council deputies and handling voters' petitions, supervision activities, people's petitions...; the structure of representatives of the National Assembly delegation and the Provincial People's Council.

Continue to promote cooperation

The two sides also discussed and signed a memorandum of understanding to promote comprehensive cooperation in both breadth and depth in the coming time. Specifically, the two sides will strengthen cooperation in exchanging operational experiences of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies of the National Assembly delegations and People's Councils of the two provinces; exchange operational experiences in advising and serving the activities of National Assembly deputies and National Assembly delegations of the Offices of the two provinces; and support in training, coaching and fostering staff.

The two sides will regularly exchange information on the activities of the National Assembly delegations and the Offices of the two provinces, contributing to building the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos and the two provinces of Nghe An and Xieng Khouang.

The two sides also agreed to jointly urge the resolution of rights issues for people migrating and living in each country.

Every two years, the National Assembly delegation and the People's Councils of the two provinces will evaluate the results of the implementation of the memorandum of understanding and discuss the next cooperation program.
