Thai Vu in real life.

I backed myself into a difficult position.

- Was there any audience feedback related to the role that made Thai Vu pay attention during the broadcast of the movie "My Father, the One Who Stays"? Especially the comparison of your role as Viet with the character in the original "In the Name of the Family" by Truong Tan Thanh?

My father stayed behind.still filming so when it aired I didn't have time to read all the comments but saw a lot of positive feedback. When the movie hadn't aired yet, the audience compared my character to the original, but now they've been drawn into the story of the Vietnamese version as well as the three Vietnamese brothers - Nguyen and An.

Thai Vu in the role of Viet.

I felt quite pressured when taking on the role of Viet because compared to the main cast, he was the youngest and had the least acting experience. Meanwhile, the role of Viet was difficult, I had to play 2 stages of the character. Viet was also the one with the most difficult circumstances among the 3 brothers because he did not have his biological parents by his side and always felt like a burden to his new family.

When filming, director Vu Truong Khoa helped me relax with a message that he wanted the character to be closer to Vietnam. I also wanted my character to be as natural as possible and close to everyday life as well as my age.

- Was there any scene that was difficult for Thai Vu and how did he make the Vietnamese character have a different color from the original?

From the beginning, I determined that the character would not be like the original. When I learned that Mr. Binh - Viet's father was a retired Cheo artist, I suggested to the director that my character play the Nguyet lute like the adoptive father I lived with since childhood. Therefore, the role was difficult, but I created another challenge for myself by knowing how to play the Nguyet lute. The most difficult scene for me was when Viet accompanied Mr. Binh on the lute and cried, expressing his inner feelings through the lute when he was about to say goodbye to his adoptive father.

Thai Vu, Ngoc Huyen and Tran Nghia in a scene from the movie "My Father, the One Who Stays".

- In "My Father, the one who stays" you play Ngoc Huyen's brother while in real life you are 3 years younger than her. In real life you call Huyen "sister" but in the movie you call yourself "anh". Did this cause difficulties for Thai Vu during the acting process?

Huyen and I are the two characters that connect the most with each other, so there is no difficulty. Although Huyen is 3 years older, she is carefree and innocent, while I am more introverted and mature. Therefore, when we meet, Huyen usually calls me "anh" (older brother) and I believe she is my younger sister. Although Tran Nghia is 7 years older, I always consider him to be my age. Actually, during the filming process, we did not care about age, we just thought about transforming into the character.

My family was shocked when I pursued art.

- After the supporting role in "Journey of Justice" and the movie "Flip Side 7", Thai Vu was given the main role in "My Father, the One Who Stays". Do you plan to focus on being an actor, a model or pursue the legal profession that you studied for?

I was lucky to have made quite a progress in 2 years. I saw myself facing great opportunities and determined to pursue art seriously. I still plan to continue studying but not at the moment.

Like Ngoc Huyen, Thai Vu is a popular face for photo modeling.

- Thai Vu still makes a good living by taking advertising photos, modeling, and your modeling income can be up to 70 million a month?

That information is not true. I still accept to do commercials besides my main job of acting because for the past few months I have been filming every day and have not had time to do other things.

- The main role's salary is also different?

I don't care about the salary but it's just enough to live on. Playing the main role also brings me many new opportunities and more casting invitations.

Thai Vu said he is "single".

- Thai Vu has many fans because he is good at studying, has an attractive appearance, and is famous. If you say you are not in love with anyone, it seems unreasonable....

I don't have a boyfriend right now, I'm actually single.(laugh).I know that there is a lot of competition in the acting industry, so I cherish every opportunity that comes my way. When I receive a big opportunity, I always give it my all. For example, during this time, in addition to filming, I practice piano and basketball at night to prepare for my role. I have too many worries, so I will put love on hold. Love is fate, so when it comes, I cannot stop or force it. If I have a lover, everyone will definitely know.

- What are your standards for the girl you like?

I have never had a specific type of girlfriend, the most important thing is that she has a personality that matches mine. In high school, I mainly had crushes, but in college and working, I almost have no time for love.

In high school, I was like Nguyen now, no different from a bookworm. I majored in Geography at Chu Van An School in Hanoi, won the Encouragement Prize in the National Excellent Student Competition and went straight to university because of my excellent grades. At that time, my acting career came. I am not from a family of actors, no one in my family has been an actor for 3 generations, so when I pursued the arts, my whole family was shocked.
