Coach Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed that U23 Vietnam will show a different face in the quarter-finals.

In the final round of the group stage, U23 Vietnam failed to create any surprises when they lost to U23 Uzbekistan with a heavy score of 0-3. With 6 points after 3 matches, U23 Vietnam ranked second in Group D and will meet U23 Iraq in the quarter-finals.

After the match, at the press conference, coach Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed that U23 Vietnam will bring positive things when facing U23 Iraq in the quarter-finals of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship.

"We came here to compete, not to participate. Although the U23 Vietnam team did not have a good result in this match, the Vietnamese players will show a different face in the quarter-finals," said Mr. Tuan.

Previously, when talking about the loss to U23 Uzbekistan, Mr. Tuan said: "The score of today's match shows that the U23 Uzbekistan team is very strong. The starting lineup of U23 Vietnam in the last round of Group D has many positions playing officially for the national team for the first time. Therefore, the 0-3 loss of U23 Vietnam accurately reflects what the two teams showed in this match. I would like to congratulate U23 Uzbekistan for topping Group D. Surely the upcoming quarter-final match will be very difficult for U23 Vietnam. You should remember that in Group D, opponents like U23 Kuwait and U23 Malaysia are all strong. Preparing for each match is very difficult."

Vietnam U23 just suffered a convincing defeat against Uzbekistan U23. With a squad of fast, strong and skillful players, the Central Asian team quickly took the lead thanks to a close-range finish by striker Alisher Odilov in the 4th minute.

Although they had to wait until the 36th minute to score the second goal, it only took 4 more minutes for U23 Uzbekistan to score the third goal, to seal the final victory of 3-0.
