Indonesian coach: 'We lost because My Dinh stadium is not good'

Opening the press conference after the second leg of the AFF Cup 2022 semi-final at My Dinh Stadium, Coach Shin Tae Yong commented: "I thinkVietnam teamplayed well tonight, they are a really strong team. I congratulate them for reaching the final and keeping a clean sheet."

Regarding the reason for the defeat, the Korean coach said: "We did not play well compared to the first leg of the semi-final in Jakarta. In the first goal, the goalkeeper did not do his job well.

The Vietnamese team is used to playing at My Dinh Stadium, but this is not a familiar stadium for us. We played against Malaysia at My Dinh at the SEA Games, but in today's match, the poor pitch prevented us from playing well."

"I need to analyze more carefully, at this time I cannot confirm anything after today's defeat. The loss to the Vietnamese team made Indonesian fans very sad and I want to apologize to them. We still have a lot of work to do to develop Indonesian football," Coach Shin sadly commented on the defeat at My Dinh Stadium.

Regarding the two goals Indonesia conceded in the first minutes of each match, Coach Shin Tae Yong also expressed regret: "I told my players that they needed to focus fully in the first 5 minutes and the end of the match. In the first goal, our goalkeeper was not really ready, while the Vietnamese team handled it well. In the second goal, Indonesia's defense lost focus from a corner kick."

Vietnam and Indonesia played an exciting match at My Dinh Stadium with a 2-0 victory for Coach Park Hang-seo and his team. Previously, in the first leg at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (Jakarta), the two teams drew 0-0.
