The tournament brings together the national champions and designated cup winners (or runners-up in some cases) of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam (two teams each), along with the Philippines and Singapore (one team each).

The national champions of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar play in qualifying rounds to compete for two spots in the group stage of the tournament.

The 12 qualifying clubs are divided into two groups in the group stage. The 30 group stage matches are played on a home-away basis over five legs. The top two teams from each group play cross-over semi-finals, with the two teams progressing to the final. The semi-finals and final also use the home-away rule.

Nam Dinh Green Steel lost heavily to Quy Nhon Binh Dinh right at home.

Despite losing to Quy Nhon Binh Dinh, Nam Dinh Blue Steel still leads V-League this season with 32 points but has let the opponents right behind narrow the gap.

A big surprise happened in round 15 of V-League when the top team, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh, lost 2-4 to MerryLand Quy Nhon Binh Dinh right at home at Thien Truong Stadium.

On the other side of the front line, MerryLand Quy Nhon Binh Dinh has 25 points, continuing to stand in fourth place on the rankings.

AFC makes unbelievable comments about U23 Vietnam before Asian tournament

There is just over a week left until the 2024 AFC U23 Championship kicks off in Qatar. As if to warm up the atmosphere, AFC has published an article evaluating each team participating in this year's tournament.

In the article, AFC surprisingly stated that U23 Vietnam is one of the candidates for the championship. “Apart from the former champions, U23 Vietnam is the only team that has reached the final in the previous 5 tournaments. They lost to Uzbekistan in the final in 2018. This year, Australia, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan all have the opportunity to step up to the highest podium. U23 Vietnam is also a candidate for the championship,” AFC commented.

In addition, AFC also recalled the journey to the final match of the 2018 AFC U23 Championship of the Red Army. AFC believes that the miracle in Changzhou (China) 6 years ago will be the inspiration for U23 Vietnam to go far in this year's tournament.

“The golden generation of Vietnamese football, with Quang Hai as the conductor, has risen to prominence in this tournament. On the way to the final, U23 Vietnam defeated a series of strong opponents such as Australia, Iraq and Qatar. Although U23 Uzbekistan won, Quang Hai's super goal "Rainbow in the Snow" ignited the fighting spirit of U23 Vietnam,” AFC recalled the achievements of coach Park Hang-seo and his team.

According to the schedule, the red team will face U23 Kuwait (April 17), U23 Malaysia (April 20) and U23 Uzbekistan (April 23)./.
