Coach Mai Duc Chung apologizes for the result of the match with Uzbekistan
(Baonghean.vn) - Speaking after the 0-1 loss of the Vietnamese women's team to the host team Uzbekistan, coach Mai Duc Chung said that the referee did not complete his task well in this match.
On the evening of October 26, the Vietnamese women's team faced Uzbekistan women's team in the qualifying round of the 2024 Paris Olympics. In this match, Huynh Nhu and her teammates lost 0-1 to the host team Uzbekistan, this defeat made it difficult for the Vietnamese women's team to continue in the qualifying round of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Speaking after the match, coach Mai Duc Chung was not satisfied with the refereeing: “The referee did not follow some situations closely. There were situations where the Vietnamese women's team should have been awarded a free kick but the referee refused. I would like to apologize for the result of today's match, this responsibility will belong to me, the head coach.”

Evaluating the match, the captain of the Vietnamese women's team said: "I think the Vietnamese women's team deserved a draw rather than losing to Uzbekistan. Players like Hai Yen and Bich Thuy missed some opportunities."
Coach Mai Duc Chung said that the Vietnamese women's team did not start well. "It must be admitted that the Vietnamese women's team did not coordinate well. We have better strength than the host Uzbekistan, the other team's players suffered from cramps quite a lot but the Vietnamese team could not take advantage of that. In addition, the Vietnamese women's team did not take advantage of the strength of low passes. Instead, the players played high balls, leading to losing the advantage to Uzbekistan, a team that has taller players."

Mr. Mai Duc Chung continued: “The Vietnamese women's team coordinated a lot on the two wings but did not pass the ball well. In the midfield, the players did not compete fiercely and passed the ball incorrectly. I think the players will have to practice more on ball contact and passing, so that they can be faster and more accurate.”
“Uzbekistan’s performance was not really sharp. They mainly played long balls and lacked protection, but the Vietnamese players were not ready for second balls and were slow to clear the ball… The situation that led to the goal came from such a scenario,” coach Mai Duc Chung explained the reason for the defeat of the Vietnamese women’s team./.
