After a heavy defeat to Hanoi Club right at home, coach Nguyen Cong Manh decided to resign, ending his short journey with the team from the land of Thu.

On the evening of April 19, at Go Dau Stadium (Binh Duong province), Binh Duong Club welcomed Hanoi Club in the 19th round of V.League 2024/2025. Despite playing at home with enthusiastic cheers from the audience, the team from the land of Thu still could not create a surprise when they lost with a heavy score of 0-3 to the representative of the capital.

Among the three goals scored by the visitors, there was an unfortunate own goal by foreign player Odilzhon Abdurakhmanov, opening the score for Hanoi Club. The remaining two goals were scored by striker Daniel Passira in the 29th minute and player Pham Tuan Hai in the 52nd minute.

After the match ended, coach Nguyen Cong Manh suddenly announced his resignation at the post-match press conference. He spoke in a thoughtful and frank voice:
“I have my own pride. When I no longer bring positive results to the team, I think I should stop. I have talked to the board and feel ashamed for this defeat. I accept to leave so that the Club can find a more suitable person. As head coach, I have to take full responsibility for the results. The Club will have an official announcement in the near future."

Under Coach Cong Manh, the most memorable mark was bringing Binh Duong Club to the semi-finals of the National Cup in the 2024/2025 season. In the V.League, although the team did not have an impressive record, with 14 points after 10 matches since he took over in round 10, the team has somewhat avoided the stressful relegation race like in previous seasons.

Sharing more about his decision to resign, the coach born in 1982 said: "I am still young and still need to learn many things to develop in the future. I just want to tell the fans that I have done my best, I have devoted all my heart to the team. Although the results are not as expected, I have never stopped trying."

Currently, Binh Duong Club is experiencing a series of bad form with 4 consecutive matches without knowing victory, including 3 defeats and 1 draw, ranking 7th on the rankings with 25 points. Weak fighting spirit and lack of determination are the big problems of the team, causing the fans' trust to decrease more and more.

Coach Nguyen Cong Manh grew up from the training center of Song Lam Nghe An Club, and was an assistant to Coach Hoang Anh Tuan in Binh Duong before being appointed to the position of head coach./.
