Coach Philippe Troussier returns to France
(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of April 3, coach Philippe Troussier returned to his homeland France, ending his regretful journey with Vietnamese football.
On February 16, 2023, coach Philippe Troussier became the captain of the Vietnam national team and Vietnam U23. The contract with the Football Federation is for nearly 4 years and lasts until the end of July 2026 with the goal of reaching the 2026 World Cup Finals.
However, after only 1 year of working, coach Troussier showed that his football philosophy was not suitable, causing the Vietnamese team to fail time and time again, and finally saying goodbye on the night of March 26.

Before returning home, coach Troussier opened up about the misunderstanding between him and the press. The 69-year-old coach said:"It could have been a misunderstanding, for sure. But you have to forgive me, I'm not a politician, I'm a coach."
The former head coach of the Vietnam team also affirmed that he and the players did their best:"I tried my best, and so did the players. Taking responsibility is not just saying 'it's my responsibility', it's doing it. I did it. But I failed. My contract is a contract that we aim for the World Cup. VFF supports me to the end! I will miss Vietnam."

After parting ways with coach Troussier, VFF is looking for a new head coach to take the "hot seat" of the Vietnam national team. In the immediate future, VFF will appoint coach Hoang Anh Tuan to lead the Vietnam U23 team at the 2024 AFC U23 Championship./.
