Huoi Pa Mai thirsty

(Baonghean) - "Huoi" in Thai means stream. However, 16 households in the resettlement area for the Khe Bo Hydropower Plant, living along the Pa Mai stream in Tam Thai commune (Tuong Duong district), are facing water shortages. During the dry season, the stream dries up, and the residents have worked together to dig wells along the stream, but the water, when boiled, forms a thick layer of precipitate on the sides and bottom of the pot. Meanwhile, the clean water project, invested in and built by the Khe Bo Hydropower Plant Management Board, still doesn't have water. For the past two years, since relocating to the new resettlement area near Huoi Pa Mai, these 16 households have had to beg for water for drinking and cooking every day…

It's not just the resettled households in Canh Trap; many resettled households in Tan Hop and Lung villages, Tam Thai commune, are facing the same situation: they have to beg for clean water every day!
