In addition to effectively disseminating timely information on the province's socio-economic situation and national defense and security, Nghe An Newspaper is constantly innovating and developing towards multi-platform journalism. In particular, the development of data-driven journalism is a new direction that Nghe An Newspaper is focusing on.

2024 marked significant transformations for Nghe An Newspaper. In particular, the newspaper made considerable efforts in digital transformation during that year.

On May 28, 2024, in addition to launching a new interface and a converged publishing system, Nghe An Newspaper launched a data-driven news section on President Ho Chi Minh and his homeland Nghe An. On November 9, 2024, it continued to launch a data-driven news section on the Nghe Tinh Soviet Uprising.

The organization of digitizing related documents, artifacts, books, and newspapers into a multimedia article system with many separate, engaging sections is a particularly important step in the storage, analysis, and presentation of journalistic data. It serves as a reliable resource for cadres, Party members, and the people to conveniently learn about the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh, as well as gain a comprehensive overview of the revolutionary movement in the heroic Nghe An province.

Data-driven news websites are not only tools serving current readers but also valuable resources on history and events, supporting research and traditional education for younger generations.

It is evident that the rapid development of science and technology, social media, and especially artificial intelligence (AI) in recent years has impacted internet user behavior and the development trends of modern journalism. Therefore, building data journalism is an inevitable trend today. This is especially true in Nghe An province, which has significant potential for data journalism development. Nghe An is the largest province in the country, home to many ethnic groups, and is also a revolutionary homeland with numerous historical and cultural relics, offering a rich resource for data journalism.

On the other hand, developing data journalism is also one of the activities aimed at concretizing the Ministry of Information and Communications' Plan for implementing the digital transformation strategy for journalism until 2025, with a vision to 2030; and the Resolution on digital transformation of Nghe An province until 2025, with a vision to 2030.

This also serves as a way to concretize Plan No. 174/KH-UBND dated March 8, 2024, of the Provincial People's Committee on the implementation of the Digital Transformation Strategy for Journalism until 2025, with a vision to 2030. The goal is for media agencies to focus on developing digital journalistic products. This includes designing and creating new information product models on various platforms to increase interaction with readers, and to distribute information content faster, wider, and more accurately according to readers' needs.

According to Comrade Ngo Duc Kien, Secretary of the Party Committee and Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper: Data journalism is an inevitable trend. Although it is a new field, combining knowledge from many different disciplines, such as social sciences, data science, computer science, data analysis, information design, and storytelling, the unit that adopts data journalism earliest will have the greatest advantage in attracting readers.

Currently, Nghe An Newspaper is in the initial stages of digital transformation and implementing outstanding content. The newspaper is focusing on in-depth research into its readers, aiming to attract the public based on three solutions: people, technology, and a superior content strategy.

To successfully build two data-driven news websites in the past year, in addition to maximizing the power of information technology, Nghe An Newspaper has collaborated effectively with relevant units such as the Department of Culture and Sports; the Kim Lien Historical Site Management Board; and the Nghe Tinh Soviet Museum, paying attention to directing relevant departments and individuals, and providing contact points to coordinate the development of the specialized websites.
