Huong Giang Idol reveals 55kg national costume at Miss Transgender

The 55kg costume, inspired by lotus flowers, cleverly combined with bamboo and rattan, was designed by young designer Ngo Manh Dong Dong.

Dong Dong spent nearly a month making the costume, which was very elaborate down to every detail such as the crown, earrings, shoes, 5 flower petals... He explained that the costumeCombining details from small things into big things, representing solidarity. The lotus with yellow color was chosen to show steadfastness as well as radiate aura and immense fragrance like the image of Vietnamese women.

Previously, Huong Giang left for Thailand on the afternoon of February 24 to attend the competition. The female singer set a big goal so she prepared her luggage carefully. She had 6 escorts and brought 105kg of luggage.

Huong Giang is the first transgender person in Vietnam to participate in this contest. Therefore, she received attention from both the media and the audience. Before leaving, the Department of Performing Arts highly appreciated Huong Giang's spirit when she submitted a detailed application for permission, although this was not required. For Huong Giang, participating in an international beauty contest despite being a famous singer was a risk and a trade-off. However, she wanted to be a pioneer, opening up opportunities for other transgender people in Vietnam to speak up.

From February 25, Huong Giang participated in the contest's activities such as charity work, talent competitions, sports, national costumes... The final took place on the evening of March 9, broadcast live on one of the two largest channels in the land of golden temples.

Miss International Queen Pageant is the largest beauty pageant for transgender beauties around the world, held annually in Thailand. In 2016, the contest was held in Pattaya, Thailand. Surpassing 24 international representatives, the host country's beauty Jiratchaya Sirimongkolnawin was crowned.
