The early days of establishing the hospital for Mr. Nguyen Xuan Kien were like a journey of "exploring a new, thorny path". Healthcare is a completely new field, approaching the policies and guidelines of the industry is very difficult for someone without medical expertise like him. But thanks to the sharp thinking of a businessman, the resilient nature of a soldier, he quickly grasped the hospital's operating procedures, management model; medical equipment, connections with hospitals, good specialists...

Continuously improve the quality of health care

From that initial idea, in 2002, Cua Dong General Hospital was established with a total investment of 60 billion VND and 100 staff, workers and 33 beds. The hospital regularly examines and treats about 300 to 400 patients per day; performs over 100 surgeries per month.

In particular, recognizing the need for emergency patients to go to central hospitals for diagnostic imaging, the hospital's leaders invested in the first CT scanner and MRI machine in Nghe An province, sent staff to study imaging techniques, installed the system, and connected to central hospitals to read and return results. This bold investment has helped thousands of patients have the opportunity to be treated, and at the same time raised the hospital's reputation to new heights.

Five years later, from 2007 to 2012, the hospital inaugurated a 13-storey building with a total investment of 400 billion VND, a scale of 100 beds and over 200 employees. Every day, the hospital examines and treats about 500 to 600 patients. From 2012 to present, Cua Dong General Hospital has an infrastructure of nearly 30,000 m2 of construction floor; a total investment of over 800 billion VND. The hospital has a scale of 350 beds, the planned number of beds is 250 beds, with nearly 400 officers and employees.

The hospital is invested synchronously, continuously, and closed according to the standards of a hotel attached to a hospital, meeting the increasing demand for medical examination and treatment of the people. The hospital has 19 departments and functional rooms. The number of patients coming for examination and treatment is about 700 to 800 people per day. The hospital continues to invest in modern machinery such as a 128-slice CT scanner, an extracorporeal lithotripsy machine, an international standard testing system...

Every month, the hospital receives 250 - 300 surgeries, and at the same time deploys many techniques that were previously only available at the Central level such as: Surgery for herniated discs, spinal column, epidural hematoma... Thereby increasing the cure rate of dangerous cases, avoiding the need for hospital transfer, saving treatment costs for patients. In addition, the hospital leadership has proactively connected and invited a team of professors, doctors, and leading doctors from the Central level hospital to directly participate in examination and treatment here every week.
