On the afternoon of October 10th, Ms. Le Thi Tan Trang, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, issued a decision to fine singer Huong Tram 10 million VND and ban her from performing for 3 months for dressing inappropriately during a performance, contrary to Vietnamese customs and traditions.
More than a month after being summoned for wearing inappropriate clothing while performing at a bar in Hanoi, Huong Tram finally appeared before the Hanoi Department on October 8th. There, Huong Tram explained and apologized for the outfit that caused public outrage, stating that it was an unintentional incident. Huong Tram promised to be more careful in choosing her performance outfits to ensure they are appropriate for Vietnamese people.
Not only did Huong Tram receive a penalty notice, but the bar where she performed was also fined 2 million VND.

She once spoke out about her inappropriate attire as follows: "Honestly, I'm very naive. I've already worn this outfit for a performance in Australia, and I didn't see anyone commenting on it. From my own perspective, I actually find it beautiful, which is why I wore it again. But it's true that everyone has their own opinion, their own way of thinking about what's beautiful. Maybe I lack serious knowledge about fashion, so I haven't yet realized what's beautiful and what's not."
