In order to help the frontline against the pandemic and support those in difficult circumstances, Trong Hoang decided to donate his 2019 SEA Games Gold Medal and the jersey he wore in the 2nd qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup to charity groups for auction. The midfielder from Nghe An said his medal was sold by the Sesame Seed Group for 207 million VND. All of this money will be used to buy ventilators for the frontline against the Covid-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City.
Meanwhile, Trong Hoang’s jersey, signed by all the team members, was sold for VND16 million. Through a group of students from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, the money was used to buy essential gifts for visually impaired children in the city.
"I believe I made the right decision to dedicate the prize that I cherish to this meaningful campaign. I hope it will spread the same spirit as the way we fought to win the Gold Medal at the 30th SEA Games," Trong Hoang shared.
Trong Hoang is one of two over-age players of the U22 Vietnam team who won the Gold Medal in men's football at the 2019 SEA Games. This medal has great significance for the player from Nghe An, as 10 years ago he failed in the final of the 2009 SEA Games.

Trong Hoang is currently training with the Vietnamese team to prepare for the third qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup. Although he is 32 years old, he is still very energetic and has shown very good form. The midfielder of Viettel Club is the number one choice of coach Park Hang-seo on the right wing, although the Vietnamese team also has other excellent players such as Vu Van Thanh or Ho Tan Tai.
