Over 1.6 billion VND raised to support families of fallen soldiers.
(Baonghean.vn) - After one year of establishment, the Provincial Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs has mobilized 1.6 billion VND to help families of martyrs, welcomed over 145 families of martyrs to express their wishes, and carried out many activities to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs.
On the afternoon of June 17th, the Provincial Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs held its third Executive Committee meeting to evaluate the results of its activities after one year of establishment and to implement some key tasks for the last six months of 2015.

Established on June 18, 2014, the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs currently has 226 members. As of May 31, 2015, the Association had raised over 1.6 billion VND for the Fund for Supporting Families of Martyrs; received over 145 families of martyrs who came to express their wishes and request assistance; donated 8 wheelchairs worth 80 million VND, 45 savings accounts worth 225 million VND, and supported the construction of 6 houses of compassion worth 300 million VND for families of martyrs in the districts of Quynh Luu, Thanh Chuong, Yen Thanh, Anh Son, and Nam Dan; organized visits and presented Tet gifts to 56 relatives of martyrs, worth 45 million VND; and called for donations to support the relatives of martyrs from Nghe An province who died at Gac Ma Island, raising nearly 50 million VND.

| Mr. Pham Quoc Viet, Deputy Secretary of the Hung Nguyen District Party Committee and member of the Executive Committee of the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs, suggested that in the coming time, the Association should strengthen its activities in supporting the search for and identification of the remains of martyrs. |
In the last six months of 2015, the Association strived to establish 1-2 district-level branches; mobilize and develop membership to raise the total number of members to nearly 300; and call on organizations and individuals inside and outside the province to support the Fund for Families of Martyrs, aiming for 2-2.5 billion VND.

| Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Vice Chairman of the Yen Thanh District People's Committee and a member of the Executive Committee of the Association, suggested that the Association should pay more attention to coordinating efforts to provide employment for the children of martyrs. |
Looking ahead, on July 25th, the Association will preside over and coordinate with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to organize a program to pay tribute to martyrs and heroic Vietnamese mothers.
