Over 14 billion VND raised for the "For the Poor" Fund.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of June 21, the Provincial Steering Committee for the "For the Poor" Fund held a meeting to review the first six months of the year and discuss solutions for implementing tasks in the last six months.

As of June 10, 2013, the entire province had raised 14.2 billion VND out of 17 billion VND for the fund for the poor (reaching 84% of the annual plan), of which the district level raised 7.9 billion VND; the provincial level raised 6.32 billion VND. Many districts exceeded their targets: Nam Dan, Con Cuong…

Implementing the social welfare program, the entire province allocated budget funds and socialized capital to support poor households celebrating Tet (Lunar New Year) and wishing longevity to the elderly, totaling over 13.1 billion VND; built 251 new houses and repaired 69 houses under the "Great Solidarity" program. At the same time, 2.95 billion VND and 3,870 tons of rice were distributed to those eligible for assistance.

For the last six months of the year, agencies and localities should focus on completing and exceeding the targets for fundraising for the poor; promptly disbursing support to poor households before the rainy season; coordinating with Party committees and authorities to accelerate the construction of solidarity houses for poor households in conjunction with Program 167/CP; and strictly monitoring the collection and expenditure of the Fund in accordance with principles and regulations.



Overview of the meeting

During the meeting, members of the fundraising committee exchanged ideas and discussed various solutions to effectively implement tasks for the last six months of the year. These solutions focused on: strengthening propaganda efforts, especially highlighting successful models and effective practices that create a strong ripple effect; changing the approach to supporting the poor to a "giving them a fishing rod" method; and closely monitoring fund management at all levels, ensuring adherence to principles and targeting the right beneficiaries.
