Do Luong district solemnly celebrates 60th anniversary of its founding

LAND RICH IN TRADITION, POTENTIAL FOR DEVELOPMENT

60 years ago, on April 19, 1963, along with a number of localities across the country, the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) decided to separate the old Anh Son district into Do Luong district and Anh Son district today.

Do Luong is a land rich in patriotic traditions, revolutionary heroes; the people are studious, industrious, and creative in labor. In the history of the struggle for independence, protection and construction of the Fatherland, the people of Do Luong have made many great contributions in terms of manpower and resources, together with the people of the whole country, writing the heroic pages of the nation's history.

Presenting a speech reviewing the glorious tradition of the district, comrade Hoang Van Hiep - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Do Luong district said that in the early years of its establishment, the Party Committee and people of Do Luong district faced many difficulties, the economy was slow to develop, the socio-economic infrastructure system was backward; the average income per capita and state budget revenue in the area were low, and people's lives faced many difficulties.

Under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee, over the past 60 years, generations of leaders at all levels, authorities, and people of the district have always joined hands and overcome all difficulties and challenges to achieve many achievements in all fields, gradually becoming one of the three economic growth poles associated with the development strategy of the Northwest region of Nghe An province.

From a purely agricultural district with a low starting point, Do Luong now has a comprehensive socio-economic development foundation, a fairly stable growth rate of over 10%, and an economic scale in the top 7 of the province. State budget revenue in the district excluding land use fees in 2022 reached 225 billion VND.

The economic structure has shifted in the right direction, the proportion of industry, trade and services in 2022 will account for over 85%. The average added value per capita in 2022 will reach 66.65 million VND, the poverty rate will decrease to 2.93%. The whole district has 32 communes meeting new rural standards, of which 5 communes meet advanced new rural standards; Do Luong town meets urban civilization standards.

The construction planning of Do Luong district for the period 2025-2030, with a vision to 2050; the general planning of Do Luong urban construction; the land use planning; the urban development program of Do Luong, Do Luong district to 2030 have been approved, which is an important premise for the district to continue developing.

Industry and handicrafts are being strongly developed, attracting many capable, large-scale investors to invest in production in the area. Economic and social infrastructure is focused on synchronous investment and construction; the cultural and social fields have achieved many outstanding advances and achievements. All of the above achievements will be the foundation and positive driving force to promote Do Luong to become a town before 2030.

STRIVE FOR DO LUONG TO BECOME A TOWN BEFORE 2025

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Le Hong Vinh - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee warmly congratulated and commended the efforts and outstanding achievements of the Party Committee and people of Do Luong district, contributing greatly to the socio-economic development of the province over the past 60 years.

With the goal of striving to build Do Luong into a town before 2025, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that the district continue to strengthen solidarity, unanimity, promote internal strength, reform administration, attract external resources, and strive to build Do Luong into a prosperous, stable and developed district.

The district also needs to perform well the management work, implement the general planning, regional planning and approved projects and programs for Do Luong urban development, restructure the economic structure, improve competitiveness and create new development momentum in the general growth pole of the province; taking productivity and quality as the top priority.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that Do Luong accelerate the economic restructuring towards services, industry - handicrafts, and build high-tech agricultural models to achieve the goal of higher and more sustainable economic growth. Maximally mobilize and effectively use resources to invest in building economic and social infrastructure.

On the other hand, the district needs to focus on cultural and social development, especially ensuring social security, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, improving the material and spiritual life of the people. Closely combine economic development with strengthening national defense and security, maintaining political stability and social order and safety.

Continue to strengthen the fight against corruption, waste, bureaucracy and negativity. Regularly pay attention to Party building and rectification; build a strong political system; build a professional administrative apparatus that operates effectively and efficiently.

In his response speech, comrade Bui Duy Dong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of Do Luong District Party Committee emphasized that the 60th anniversary of the district's establishment is to review the sacrifices during the previous 60 years and think about the efforts for the vision of Do Luong 60 years later, to strengthen the belief in the miraculous development of Do Luong in the future.

This belief can only be strengthened and verified by outstanding achievements in the coming time, with the specific task of turning Do Luong into a town and the vision of Do Luong becoming the growth pole in the West of Nghe An province before 2030, fulfilling the mission of being the new economic and cultural center of Nghe An province. This specific task is a test to affirm the solidarity of all, working together for the future development of the district.

At the 60th anniversary celebration, the Party Committee and people of Do Luong district were delighted to receive the Emulation Flag of the Government; and the Banner presented by the Provincial Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province with the inscription: "The Party Committee and people of Do Luong district: 60 years of solidarity, creativity, innovation and development".
