As of today (March 28), the districtQue PhongAfrican swine fever has recurred in 23 households in 4 communes: Tien Phong, Muong Noc, Tri Le and Thong Thu. The total number of pigs that have been destroyed so far is 111, with a weight of 4,814 kg.

Mr. Vo Khanh Toan - Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Tien Phong commune said: About 2 weeks ago, the commune began to record relapse cases.African swine feverFirst, so far has spread to 5/12 copies.

According to Mr. Toan, the local government is currently actively zoning off the epidemic, setting up a checkpoint right at Truong Banh intersection - the gateway to Que Phong district, which borders Quy Chau district. Currently, the local government of Tien Phong commune has also instructed households not to trade or transport pigs from the commune to the outside and vice versa. For villages that have not been affected by the epidemic, they have encouraged people to use lime powder and biological measures to disinfect and clean barns. At the same time, they have promoted the habit of disinfecting before and after entering the livestock barn area.

Faced with the complicated developments of African swine fever, the People's Committee of Que Phong district has also issued a decision.publish translationin communes where the epidemic has occurred, to ensure control and prevent the disease from spreading widely. Mr. Nguyen Ba Hien - Director of the Que Phong District Agricultural Service Center said: Implementing the direction of the District Disease Prevention Steering Committee, currently, localities and related units are organizing to isolate and suppress the epidemic; always assigning staff on duty to promptly handle the situation. When receiving reports of pigs with diseases or unusual deaths, they must immediately check and disinfect.

However, according to Mr. Hien, because the mountainous area is complicated, mainly small-scale farming, awareness of farming and disease prevention is not high, while African swine fever has a wide source of infection, difficult to control. In addition, people are impatient to restore their herds, so they buy breeds of animals of uncertain origin and do not have full vaccinations, leading to the risk of infection and cross-infection to local breeds. Not to mention, due to the habit of being greedy for cheapness, people often buy pork of unknown origin to eat. When there is an epidemic, they do not report it to local authorities for timely control, but instead slaughter the pigs, making the epidemic situation even more unpredictable.
