Cordyline terminalis kunth is also known as cordyline, iron tree (Chinese medicine), cordyceps (Tay), co truong lau (Thai), quyen dien ai (Dao), and has the scientific name cordyline terminalis kunth.
There are two types of dracaena, the type with red leaves on both sides and the type with red leaves on one side and green on the other. Both are used as medicine, but the type with red leaves on both sides is better.
According to oriental medicine, blood dragon fruit has a bland taste and cool properties, has the effect of cooling the blood, nourishing the blood, stopping bleeding, and dissolving blood stasis, reducing rheumatic pain and bone pain, treating menorrhagia, leukorrhea, dysentery, gonorrhea, dengue fever, hemoptysis, coughing up blood, and hematuria.
Average dosage is 20 - 30g fresh leaves, 8 - 16g dried leaves for decoctions, can be used alone or combined with other herbs.
The following are medicinal remedies using blood dragon:
Treatment of dengue fever (including subcutaneous hemorrhage):30g fresh dragon blood leaves, 20g charred thuja, 20g Eclipta prostrata. Boil and drink 1 dose per day, divided into 2-3 times.
Treatment of coughing up blood, nosebleeds and subcutaneous bleeding:30g fresh dragon blood leaves, 20g burnt thuja leaves, 20g Eclipta prostrata, decoct and drink 1 dose per day, divided into 2-3 times.
Treatment of coughing up blood:10g of dragon's blood leaf, 8g of fan root, 4g of black-roasted thuja leaves, 4g of purple jasmine leaves, dry all, decoct and drink 1 dose per day, divided into 2-3 times.
Treatment of all types of bleeding (including uterine bleeding, bloody diarrhea)Fresh dragon blood leaves 40 - 50g (if using dried leaves, dried flowers only use half the amount of fresh leaves), boil and drink 1 dose per day, divided into 2 - 3 times. Do not use for women after abortion or after giving birth with retained placenta.
Treats leucorrhea, vaginal discharge, dysentery, metrorrhagia, gastritis, enteritis, internal hemorrhoids, anal ulcers with bleeding:40g fresh blood dragon, 20g live forever leaves, 20g red copper leaves, boil and drink 1 dose per day, divided into 2-3 times.
Cure wounds or rheumatic pain: Use 30g of dragon's blood (leaves, flowers, roots), 15g of dragon's blood, boil and drink 1 dose per day, divided into 2-3 times.
Treatment of menorrhagia, metrorrhagia:20g fresh dragon blood leaves, 10g cogon root, 10g luffa calyx, 8g ginger root. Chop finely, add 300ml of water and boil until 100ml remains, divide into 2 doses to drink during the day.
Or 20g fresh blood leaf, 10g perilla branch, 10g male areca flower, a little hair burned into charcoal, chopped, mixed well, fried until golden brown then boiled and drink 1 dose per day, divided into 2-3 times.
Treatment of hematuria:20g fresh dragon blood leaves, 10g roasted roots, 10g hotpot leaves, 10g salt tree leaves, 10g goat blood leaves. Wash all, drain, crush and squeeze to get the juice to drink.
Treatment of dysentery:20g fresh dragon blood leaves, 12g Eclipta prostrata, 20g pennywort, crush, add a little water, squeeze to get the juice, drink twice a day.
