Rare young man hospitalized for squatting on toilet
The toilet suddenly burst open, causing the 17-year-old boy to be cut deeply into his buttocks and back by shards of porcelain.
Doctors at the HCM City Orthopedic Hospital said the patient was admitted with a wound longer than a hand span long on his buttocks, bleeding profusely, and a deep wound on his back. Imaging results also showed that the patient had a fractured sacrum.
World literature also records a number of accidents when squatting while using the toilet causing the toilet to break. |
The patient's nerves were not affected and he was conscious after the wound was sutured and the sacrum was fixed, but doctors were concerned about the possibility of infection. The patient still had to stay in the hospital for care and monitoring.
Describing the accident to the doctor, the patient said that he was squatting on the toilet in the bathroom when the bowl broke, leaving him unable to support himself. Shards of the porcelain bowl pierced his buttocks and back.
This is the second time doctors at the HCM City Orthopedic Hospital have received an accident caused by a broken toilet. Both were large people, both squatting with both legs on the toilet bowl.
