Nghe An sports' "golden hope" brings home more than 100 medals in 2017
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of February 4, Nghe An Martial Arts Federation held a year-end ceremony for 2017. Attending were leaders of the Department of Culture and Sports, representatives of the Provincial Police, the Provincial Sports Training Center and martial arts clubs in Nghe An.
Nghe An Martial Arts Federation is a social organization on sports established in 1993. Over the past 24 years, Nghe An Martial Arts Federation has made many positive contributions to the province's sports movement, always being the spearhead sports bringing many medals to Nghe An's high-performance sports.
By the end of 2017, the Nghe An Martial Arts Federation had 200 members; 53 clubs of various disciplines. Currently, the total number of martial arts students of various disciplines in the province is over 2,000 people practicing regularly; during the summer, the number of students sometimes reaches nearly 5,000 people.

In 2017, Nghe An Martial Arts Federation organized 2 tournaments that were assessed to have high professional quality and created a big buzz, which were the first Provincial Traditional Martial Arts Championship and the first Provincial Karate Championship.
Also in 2017, Nghe An Martial Arts Federation organized 2 professional training courses for Karate referees and a professional training course and belt and rank upgrading exam for Traditional Martial Arts, to improve the qualifications of the referees and coaches in preparation for the Provincial Sports Festival and the National Sports Festival in 2018.
Currently, at the Provincial Sports Training Center, there are 6 martial arts disciplines that are centrally trained, including: Traditional Martial Arts, Karate, Taekwondo, Wushu, Boxing and Kick Boxing with a total of more than 100 professional athletes.
In 2017 alone, athletes of 6 martial arts participating in national tournaments brought home 21 gold medals, 34 silver medals and 72 bronze medals for the province’s sports. Martial arts are also the golden hope for Nghe An sports at the 2018 National Sports Festival.

At the 2017 year-end ceremony, many outstanding collectives and individuals of Nghe An province were awarded by the Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation for their positive contributions to the development of martial arts in the country.
