The South Korean automaker's crossover model features redesigned styling from the inside out, along with new engines and optional features.

Hyundai chose the 2018 New York Auto Show to introduce the 2019 Tucson. Compared to the previous version, the new Tucson features upgraded design with a new grille, more stylish headlights, LED daytime running lights, refined taillights, and slimmer front and rear bumpers.

Inside, Hyundai has redesigned the dashboard, with a 7-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system positioned higher up, supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The air conditioning vents have a new design. Customers can opt for USB chargers for the rear seats or Qi wireless charging.

Besides design changes, the South Korean automaker has added more engine options. The first is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder direct-injection engine producing 164 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque. The top-of-the-line model features a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine (replacing the 1.6 T-GDI engine in the US market), producing 181 horsepower and 237 Nm of torque. A high-performance 2.0-liter four-cylinder Turbo engine delivers 275 horsepower and 353 Nm of torque.

The two naturally aspirated 2.0 and 2.4 engines use a 6-speed automatic transmission, with steering wheel-mounted Shiftronic paddle shifters. The 2.0 Turbo engine, however, offers a choice of a 6-speed manual or a new 8-speed automatic transmission.

Standard safety features include forward collision warning and lane keeping assist. Optional features include surround-view monitoring, pedestrian detection, adaptive headlights, automatic wipers, and adaptive cruise control.

According to plan, the 2019 Hyundai Tucson will go on sale in the US from the end of 2018 with four trim levels: SE, SEL, Sport, and Limited. The SE trim uses a 2.0-liter engine, while the other trims are equipped with a 2.4-liter engine. A competitor to the Honda CR-V, the 2019 Hyundai Tucson debuted at the 2018 New York Auto Show, an event held in the US from March 30th to April 8th.

In Vietnam, Hyundai Tucson does not disclose sales figures; its two strongest competitors are the CX-5 and CR-V. Tucson and CX-5 have the advantage of being assembled locally, allowing for lower prices, while the CR-V is more expensive but has the advantage of being imported.
