Hyundai confirms hybrid version of Santa Fe
Although the exact roadmap has not been announced, Korean automakers have confirmed that in the new generation, the mid-size SUV Santa Fe will have additional hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions.
This information was confirmed by Hyundai at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show taking place in Switzerland.
The Korean automaker hasn't announced a specific roadmap, but expect the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid and PHEV versions to hit the market as early as next year.
Hyundai already has the Ioniq, which also comes in hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions in addition to the all-electric version. However, it’s unclear if there’s any connection between its engines and the Santa Fe.
For now, the new generation Hyundai Santa Fe has only been launched in the European market with traditional gasoline and diesel engine versions.
Specifically, in Europe, Sante Fe will have 3 diesel engine versions and one gasoline engine version that has been upgraded to meet Euro 6C emission standards.
The standard 2.0L diesel version has two power output levels of 148 horsepower and 180 horsepower, combined with a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2.2L CRDi diesel version produces 195 horsepower, combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the 2.4L petrol version produces 183 horsepower.
In the Korean market, the new generation Santa Fe has only two diesel versions (with 183 horsepower and 232 horsepower), and one gasoline version; all come with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
