(Baonghean.vn) - Heavy rains over the weekend on the main islands of Central Java province, Indonesia, caused flash floods and landslides, claiming the lives of nearly 50 people.

Indonesian authorities are working hard to rescue victims buried underground. Search and rescue teams have had to use bulldozers and excavators to clear debris during the search.
Most houses here were severely damaged, and all residents on the islands in central Java had to be evacuated.

Sutopo Nugroho, spokesman for the national disaster relief agency, said that around 200 people, including military personnel, police, NGOs, and volunteers, are currently searching for victims.
The death toll has risen to 47 people, and 15 others are still missing.
Central Java, Indonesia, is home to the country's most densely populated islands. However, these islands are frequently affected by landslides due to heavy rains and always pose a risk of flooding and mudslides.
