iPhone 6s cracked case, battery exploded in Ho Chi Minh City

The battery of an iPhone 6s swelled up while its owner was charging and using it at the same time and exploded as soon as the technician took it out of the device.

The owner of the phone is Mr. Ngo Luc, an artist living and working in Ho Chi Minh City. According to the story, he bought the iPhone 6s at a phone store near his house 4 months ago. Before the incident happened, his phone's battery ran out faster than usual.

"While I was charging and using the device, it suddenly popped open, creating a gap of a few millimeters. Looking inside, I saw that the battery was swollen. I quickly unplugged the charger, turned off the power, and immediately took it to a repairman," Luc recounted.

Mr. Luc said that a few minutes after the technician removed the battery from the device, the battery suddenly exploded, startling everyone around, then it caught fire fiercely, giving off an unpleasant smell. Fortunately, there were no casualties in the incident.

According to the technician, if he had not unplugged and turned off the device in time, the iPhone could have exploded right in Mr. Luc's hands.

"Luckily I held it. If any child in the house had held it and played with it, it would have been dangerous. I also advise parents to supervise their children when playing with mobile devices, because it can cause accidents at any time," Luc shared.

The iPhone 6s was then replaced with a new battery and Mr. Luc continued to use it.
