Habibollah Khojastehpour, deputy governor of Lorestan province, Iran, confirmed in an interview today that two people were killed during an illegal anti-government protest in the town of Dorud on the evening of December 30, according to Reuters.
"Police and security forces did not open fire. We found evidence pointing to the enemies of the revolution being Takfiri groups and foreign agents in this clash," the deputy governor said.Khojastehpour said.Takfiri is a term used to refer to Sunni militants, especially those belonging to the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS).
Demonstration bydissatisfied with the difficult economic situation and corruption in the country,violence erupted as protesters poured into the capital Tehran, clashing with police and attacking several government buildings.Videos on social media showed two young men lying motionless in a pool of blood. People around accused the two young men of being shot by riot police.
