Iran may help Syria develop weapons
Iran could help Syria develop weapons, Iranian Defense Minister Amir Khatami said during his visit to Damascus, Mehr news agency reported.
Mr. Khatami said this after arriving in Syria as part of a two-day visit.
At a press conference held on Sunday, after Mr. Khatami's meeting with his Syrian counterpart Ali Abdallah Ayub, the Iranian minister said that Tehran is ready to support Damascus in reconstruction.

"The Iranian private sector has the capacity to help the Syrian people and the government in the process of rebuilding the country. Iran also has strong defense power and can help Syria develop weapons," Khatami said.
For his part, the Syrian Defense Minister thanked Khatami for the efforts of Iranian advisers to support Damascus in the fight against terrorism. He noted that terrorism has been eradicated in Syria and government forces will soon gain control over Idlib.
