There are many reasons why HAGL continuously changed the team's name in just a few short months before the 2024-2025 season.

In the 2024-2025 season, the clubHoang Anh Gia Lai change back to old name. The mountain town football team removed the new sponsor's name attached less than a year ago.

"We had to change the team's name back to its old name due to the overlap between the tournament's main sponsor and the sponsor in the team's name. The team's academy is still called LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai. We have just announced the change of the team's official fanpage name," a leader of the mountain town team told VTC News.

On the afternoon of October 29, Hoang Anh Gia Lai announced that they would change the team's fanpage name to the old name without a sponsor. In fact, Hoang Anh Gia Lai had registered the team's name to the old name before the new season took place.

The announcement reads: "The name change announcement is required by Facebook, and Hoang Anh Gia Lai has sent the request and must announce it on the page. We are just waiting for Facebook's approval to change the name ourselves, but we cannot determine when."

At the beginning of the 2023 season, Hoang Anh Gia Lai changed its name to LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai and just under a year later, they returned to the name Hoang Anh Gia Lai that existed 20 years before.

Iran sends letter to AFC, suing North Korea U17 for cheating

Despite qualifying for the 2025 AFC U-17 Championship as one of the five best runners-up, Iran U17 is still not satisfied. The Iranian Football Federation wants to sue their opponents, the North Korea U17 team, on the grounds that the East Asian representative cheated on their age.

The Iranian Football Federation's website confirmed that the agency had sent a letter to Asia's highest football body, denouncing that many North Korean U17 players were actually overage.

The text reads: “Iran has officially requested the AFC to consider the age limit for the North Korean U17 players. We believe they are using ineligible players. The player’s physical and anatomical characteristics indicate that he may be over 17 years old. The AFC should conduct a bone scan to determine his true age.”

The identity of the player suspected of age fraud has not been revealed. But in the match between the U17 North Korea team and the U17 Iran team, they were clearly dissatisfied when they saw some of the opposing players with old faces and unusually large bodies.
