The attack targeted a base used by militant groups believed to have carried out attacks in Tehran that killed 18 people last week.
A statement on the IRGC’s official website said the attack targeted Syria’s Deir el-Zour province. Other details of the launch were not immediately clear, other than that the missiles were fired from Iran.
This is a rare attack in the long-running civil war in Syria, where Iran is backing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Eighteen people were killed and more than 50 injured in two terrorist attacks on the Iranian Parliament building and the mausoleum of late Iranian revolutionary leader Ruhollah Khomeini on June 7. The Islamic State (IS) group has claimed responsibility for the attacks./.
