Iran retaliates against Trump's executive order, banning all Americans from entering the country

Iran has announced it will ban all US citizens from entering the country in response to President Donald Trump's executive order restricting immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries.

Iran's foreign ministry yesterday directly linked the ban to Mr Trump's order, calling it an "insult to the Muslim world". The statement predicted the order would "go down in history as a great gift to extremists and their supporters", according toVOA.

Tehran also warned that the 120-day ban signed by Trump on January 27 would not make the United States safer. The ministry also said the retaliatory measures would remain in place until the US lifted the ban.

Iran's move is the first official response from seven Muslim-majority countries to Mr Trump's ban. The other six areIraq, Libya, Syria, Sudan, Yemen and Somalia.
