Mahmoud Mousavi Majd - who was accused of working for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, was executed on Monday morning.
The trial was held before General Soleimani was killed, and had nothing to do with the US campaign to eliminate the senior commander of the Iranian military.
Tehran says Washington's response to Soleimani's death is not over
On January 3 this year, the US carried out an operation in Baghdad to eliminate General Soleimani. Iran responded with a missile attack on a US military base in Iraq. Initially, US President Donald Trump and the Pentagon leadership said there were no casualties in the attack.
But later, the US military was forced to admit there were victims in this case.
