A series of terrorist bomb attacks on public places in Baghdad on June 27 killed 12 people.

According to AP, the information was released by Iraqi authorities. Specifically, a car bomb explosion near auto parts stores on June 27 in southeastern Baghdad killed five people and injured 13 others.

Another bomb blast at the exit of a market killed three shoppers and injured eight others in the eastern suburbs of Baghdad.

Police also reported another bomb explosion near a chain of stores in the Baiyaa area, on the western border of Baghdad, which killed two people and injured 10 others.

Furthermore, a bomb explosion near a wholesale fruit and vegetable market in southern Baghdad claimed two more lives and injured three others.

Iraqi health officials have confirmed casualties in the bombings.

Meanwhile, on June 27, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced that the country's security forces had arrested Abdel Baqi al-Sadun, a high-ranking official under the overthrown President Saddam Hussein.
