IS stoned to death couple having premarital sex

Stones were piled up in long rows on the streets of Iraq in preparation for the brutal execution by IS militants of a man and a woman convicted of having an illicit relationship.

Shocking new images show Islamic State (IS) militants stoning to death a masked couple in Iraq. The couple were sentenced to death for having sex before marriage. A crowd, including children and women, gathered on a street corner in Mosul, the capital of Nineveh province, to watch the punishment.

Abu Ansar al-Ansari, a long-bearded leader, oversaw the executions, ordering the victims to be stoned for having illicit sex. An IS militant with a yellow scarf covering his face was seen reading the accusations against the couple over a microphone and loudspeaker, as the crowd jostled for a better view.

According to Ibtimes, the stones were stacked in a long line in the middle of the road. IS gunmen then started throwing stones at the couple. Each stone thrown at them made their bodies bounce. They were helpless to bear the hail of stones directed at them. Not long after, a pool of blood appeared on the road. The two victims eventually died from severe injuries.

IS militants often carry out such barbaric executions under strict Islamic Sharia law. On March 19, a woman named Farkhunda, 27, was brutally killed by a mob of men near a mosque after she was allegedly seen burning a copy of the Quran. Farkhunda is believed to have mental problems. The mob lynched Farkhunda with stones and sticks and threw her from the roof, before running her over with a car. Video of the shocking scenes later went viral online./.
