IS claims responsibility for Afghanistan bombing, killing 9 journalists

A double suicide bombing in the Afghan capital Kabul killed 29 people, including nine journalists.

The regional branch of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) posted a message online, claiming that two members of the group attacked Afghan intelligence forces in Kabul.

Terrormonitor, a website that monitors terrorism, posted on Twitter that IS claimed responsibility for the bombings in Kabul, according toWashington Post.

Taliban and IS terrorist groups often use serial bombing tactics to increase casualties.

A suicide bomber riding a motorbike blew himself up and about 20 minutes later, another bomber walked into a crowd of journalists covering the event and also blew himself up.

Twenty-nine people died, nine of them journalists. The journalists killed included AFP chief photographer Shah Marai and two Radio Free Europe journalists.

This is the deadliest attack on media workers in Afghanistan since 2001.
