ISIS militants posted a video online showing the beheading of a man they described as a Russian intelligence officer captured in Syria.

SITE, organizationbased in the United StatesA firm specializing in monitoring the activities of extremist Islamic militants said today that the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group has posted a video showing the beheading of a man believed to be a captured Russian intelligence officer in Syria.Reuters.

The 12-minute video, in Russian and released on the same day Russia held a parade commemorating the 72nd anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany, shows a man.A man dressed in black is kneeling in the desert and calling on other Russian intelligence officers to surrender.

An ISIS militant then executed the man with a knife.The video also shows images that ISIS militants describe as the aftermath of Russian airstrikes in Syria.

According to Reuters,The video has not been verified, and the identity of the beheaded man and the time of the incident remain unknown.The Russian Ministry of Defense and the Federal Security Service have not commented on the video.

Since September 2015, the Russian military has launched a campaign to eliminate ISIS and other terrorist groups in Syria, protecting the government of President Bashar al-Assad. The Russian Ministry of Defense reports that approximately 30 Russian servicemen have been killed in this operation so far.

Russian special forces are training a squad to hunt down ISIS for the Syrian army.
