Israel sells super modern weapons to Vietnam Navy

Jane's Defense Magazine has just reported that Israel's Controp Precision Technologies will provide the iSea-40HD electro-optical/infrared sensor system to the Vietnam Navy.

According to Jane's, this newly signed contract is the second order, following a similar deal made three years ago. However, the Israeli company refused to disclose details about the quantity and the platform of the weapon that will be integrated with this equipment.

The above developments once again show that Vietnam-Israel defense cooperation is increasingly expanding and becoming more substantial.

The manufacturer announced some basic parameters of this advanced electro-optical / infrared (EO / ER) sensor block as follows: weight 29 kg, combined with a thermal imaging camera with continuous optical zoom, accompanied by a daytime camera for HD output image quality along with a target indicator and laser rangefinder.

The iSea-40HD photoelectric/infrared sensor system is manufactured by the Israeli company Controp.

As the name iSea suggests, this device is optimized for installation on patrol boats or marine vehicles, and can be easily integrated into many different platforms and chassis, making it suitable for a wide range of customer needs around the world.

The device is controlled by a command station, which can be controlled automatically or via a hand-held regulator.

Components are designed with exceptional durability to withstand the impact of harsh operating environments, providing very high performance.

The command post (CU) is usually fixed, but it is possible to use a cable connection to allow it to move over short ranges.

With integrated laser rangefinder and target designator, it can be seen that this special weapon is suitable for integration into automatic weapon control stations such as guns and cannons.

Currently, some Vietnamese patrol boats are equipped with 23 mm ZU-23-2 cannons or 12.7 mm remote-controlled machine guns. If the iSea-40HD is added, their combat capabilities will increase significantly.

In addition, there are some predictions that the above equipment is used as a supplementary device for shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles mounted on fixed launchers installed on naval ships.

Hopefully there will soon be official images of a weapon in service with the Vietnam People's Navy integrating this super modern Israeli iSea-40HD electro-optical/infrared sensor station.
