Israel exhausted military potential in war with Hamas?
The New York Times believes that Israel has exhausted its military potential in the war with Hamas, and can only end it through diplomacy.

According to the TASS news agency (Russia), the New York Times quoted a source saying that the US believes that the Israeli army has reached the limit of its capabilities in the fight against Hamas in the Gaza Strip and that resolving the crisis can only be through diplomatic means.
The New York Times reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had done more than Washington had expected - the Israeli army could now "move freely in Gaza", half of Hamas's leaders had been killed, supplies from Egypt to Gaza had been cut off and were under Israeli control. But the US administration believed that Israel could not achieve the return of the hostages by military means.
Senior US officials admit that although Israel has severely weakened the Palestinian Hamas movement, the Israeli army will not be able to completely destroy the movement.
According to the New York Times, further bombing will only make the situation worse for civilians in the area, but will not help bring the Israeli hostages home.
Today, August 15, according to Bloomberg, representatives of the Hamas movement will not attend the ceasefire talks in the Gaza Strip, held in the Qatari capital Doha, but the mediators will briefly announce the results achieved with Hamas after the end of the negotiations.
