Israel agrees to let Syria deploy troops near border
Israel has agreed to allow Syrian government troops to deploy near its northern border, Israel's Channel 2 television reported, citing an unnamed senior official.

The deal was reached with the mediation of Russia, media reports said.
"The agreement stipulates that Assad's troops will be deployed in positions near the border with Israel, and in return Russia promises that there will be no presence of Iran and Hezbollah," the report said.
The area near the Israel-Syria demarcation line is part of the de-escalation zone, established in 2017 under an agreement between Russia, the United States and Jordan.
