The Israeli military said its aircraft struck Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip early on March 24, following clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli soldiers at the border. Palestinian protesters in Gaza threw several explosive devices at Israel's border fence on the evening of March 23, one of which triggered an attack alert in southern Israel, according to AFP news agency.

The Israeli military statement stated: "In response to multiple explosive devices thrown towards the Israeli border fence and detonated during the riots in Gaza, an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) aircraft attacked two Hamas observation posts in the southern Gaza Strip." The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has confirmed that the US will build an arms storage facility in Poland as the alliance strengthens its defenses against Russia. The facility will be built in the city of Powidz, about 200 km west of the Polish capital Warsaw. The cost of building the facility is up to 260 million USD (6,020 billion VND), according to the newspaper.The Wall Street JournalNATO will use the warehouse to store enough armored vehicles, weapons and ammunition for a brigade.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said construction would begin in late 2019 and be completed within two years. He said the arsenal would help strengthen the US military presence in Poland.

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Indonesia's Moluccas Islands on the morning of March 24, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said. The epicenter of the quake was 76.5 kilometers deep and 147 kilometers northwest of the city of Ternate.

This is the second earthquake to hit Indonesia in the same morning. A 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck a few hours earlier on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. There have been no reports of casualties or damage to property, nor have there been any tsunami warnings from the two earthquakes.
