Israel strikes target in Damascus suburbs
(Baonghean.vn) - Eight Syrian soldiers are believed to have been killed in the attack on May 2.

On the evening of May 2, Reuters news agency quoted a security source affiliated with the Syrian Government as saying that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked a building used by Syrian security forces in the suburbs of Damascus.
Syrian state news agency SANA, citing security sources, said eight soldiers were killed. It also reported “material damage” on the ground, but did not specify the target of the attack. SANA said the missile was fired from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
Israeli authorities have yet to comment on the incident. According to RT, West Jerusalem rarely acknowledges attacks outside its territory.
The attack, reported by Syrian media, comes amid continuing tensions between Israel and Iran, as Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza enters its seventh month next week. Israel has accused Iran of arming and guiding Hamas and pro-Palestinian militias based in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon. Tehran, however, insists that Hamas and its affiliates operate independently.
On April 1, Israel bombed an Iranian diplomatic compound in Damascus, killing several military officers, including two generals of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
More than a week later, Iran responded by launching a barrage of drones and missiles at Israel. According to the IDF, most of the flying objects were intercepted and the attack caused no casualties.
