Israel increases use of F35 fighters in Syria
(Baonghean.vn) - Israel's Galei Tzahal military radio station said that the Israeli Air Force (IAF) is increasingly relying on the future capabilities of the struggling F-35 stealth fighter to continue its air campaign in Syria, after Syria's air defense capabilities were enhanced by Russia's modern S300 missile defense system.

According to Galei Tzahal, Tel Aviv's autonomy to freely strike 'Iranian targets' anywhere in or outside Syria has been severely reduced after Moscow transferred the S-300 air defense system and accompanying equipment to Damascus.
The surface-to-air interceptor missiles delivered to the Syrian Army, as well as Moscow's determination to disrupt the radar, navigation and communications systems of any aircraft attacking Syria via the Mediterranean coast - could greatly complicate the mission of Israeli F-15 and F-16 fighters.
So, to counter potential threats to its fighters, Israel will have to rely more on the F-35 stealth fighter to carry out its missions in Syria.
The move to hand over Russia's modern S300 missile system to Damascus to secure Syrian airspace comes after the crash of a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft on September 17, which was mistakenly shot down by a missile launched from Syria's S-200 air defense system.
The Russian Defense Ministry accused the Israeli military of deliberately creating a dangerous situation by using the Russian plane as a shield against Syrian air defense systems. The incident killed 15 Russian servicemen on board.
This is the most serious case of accidental fire by the Syrian army since Russia intervened militarily in the country at the request of President Bashar Al Assad in late 2015./.
